Welcome to the Barnet Citizens Advice Bureau Website

Not sure where to turn?

Barnet Citizens Advice Bureau operates an advice and information service through three bureaux, located in Finchley, Hendon, and New Barnet.

Our advice is:

- free
- confidential
- impartial
- independent

NEWSFLASH

Barnet CAB has won Barnet Council's Community Advice Service tender. This means that Barnet CAB, together with our close partner, Barnet Law Service, will continue to be funded by the Council to provide vital advice services to local residents for the next 3 years.

We are delighted that the high quality of our work has been recognised in the decision to award us this contract and we look forward to continuing to provide an excellent advice service to all who live, work or study in the Borough of Barnet.

Thank you for your help!

FINCHLEY CAB

We have introduced a new system of access at Finchley CAB.

The bureau will open as usual on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays but on Monday and Thursday mornings only, between 9.30am and 12.30pm, clients will receive a 10 minute triage interview with one of our assessors. Clients will be seen strictly in order of first come first served.

During the interview the assessor will ask about the nature of your enquiry and decide the best way to help you, either by providing you with relevant written information, or making an appointment for you to see an adviser at another time, or signposting you to another organization better able to assist you. Please note that no advice will be given at this interview.

If you are given an appointment, you will be issued with an appointment slip with the details. If you fail to keep this appointment and fail to cancel you may not be given any further appointments.

On Wednesdays, only clients with pre booked appointments will be seen. There will be no triage interviews.

The service is available to people who live, work or study in the London Borough of Barnet.

New debt advice clinics at Grahame Park

Barnet CAB's Money Advice Project is holding Debt Clinics at the One Stop Shop at The Concourse, Grahame Park NW9. Sessions are first come first served and you do not need an appointment. One to one advice will be offered on all debt issues including mortgage/rent arrears, credit debts and utility arrears.

Sessions take place on Thursdays fortnightly between 10am and 12.30pm. The next session will take place on 22nd March.

Please remember to bring all your paperwork.

New advice sessions at Children's Centres

We are providing fornightly advice sessions on welfare benefits, debt and housing at the following Children's Centres: Fairways (Mill Hill), Barnfield (Burnt Oak), Parkfield (West Hendon), Coppetts (Coppetts Wood) and Underhill (New Barnet). The sessions are by appointment only and these can be booked through the centres themselves if you are a parent who lives, works or studies in Barnet (or your child / children are schooled in Barnet) and your child / children are aged 0-19, or 0-25 if they are disabled.

Email Advice Service

Barnet CAB has launched a new email advice and information service for all those who live, work or study in the London Borough of Barnet. Please click here for further information.

New Barnet CAB Volunteer Receptionist

Please note, we are currently recruiting Volunteer Receptionists for New Barnet CAB - 30 Station Road, New Barnet. EN5 1PL. If you are interested in applying for this position, please go to the Volunteering Page to download an Appliication Form.

Please help!

Barnet CAB has been delivering a Home Visiting Service for the past 20 years which has helped countless elderly and vulnerable people in the borough tackle their legal and financial problems who would otherwise have been unable to do so. Unfortunately, cuts in funding have put this vital service at immediate risk of closure.

We are therefore seeking to raise money to allow this valuable service to continue. If you would like the service to continue and are able to make a donation, please click on the button below. The process is easy and will only take a minute.

Thank you for your help!
