Community Advice Services (CAS) Manager
Role Profile
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Community Advice Service Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of our advice services. This pivotal role will oversee staff and volunteers working in the Community Advice Service and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to secure continuation funding, maximise people management and implement new initiatives smoothly.
A key focus of the role is deployment of volunteers across advice service areas. You will champion effective communication, foster a supportive environment, and facilitate structured training pathways to ensure volunteers thrive in the Community Advice Service.

Citizens Advice Barnet is a local charity giving free and confidential advice to everyone who lives, works, or studies in Barnet. We are an independently registered charity, a member of the Citizens Advice network, and a London Legal Support Trust Centre of Excellence. We offer generalist advice on debt, work, benefits, immigration, housing and more and specialist casework on benefits, debt and immigration. Last year we helped 10,700 people with over 45,000 problems and achieved financial outcomes for clients totalling over £6.9 million.

Job Description
- Lead and manage the daily operations of advice services, ensuring high-quality client focused delivery
- Foster, support, and empower a high-performing team of Supervisors to deliver frontline advice services effectively, by empowering a positive and supportive environment for volunteers
- Support staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and inclusive working environment
- Be accountable for maintaining appropriate systems for recording, statistics, follow up and quality standards
- Ensuring that volunteers are located in the service, and receiving ongoing support from Supervisors
- Ensure the smooth implementation of new initiatives and service developments
- Oversee the training and deployment of volunteers across the Community Advice Service
- Build, maintain, and improve communication channels for volunteers to ensure they feel informed, valued and engaged
- Monitor trainee progress and development through structured training programmes, providing feedback and support as needed
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of CAB’s Health & Safety and Safeguarding Policies
- Promote the aims, principles, policies, interests and wellbeing of Citizens Advice Barnet and to protect the integrity and reputation and the confidentiality of the service

Person Specification
- Experience in managing day-to-day operations of advice or support services, ensuring high-quality, client-focused outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to empower teams and foster a positive and inclusive working culture
- Ability to facilitate training pathways and monitor progress of trainees effectively
- Ability to foster communication and cohesion among volunteers and staff.
- Shows adaptability, problem-solving skills, and proactive planning to maintain service quality
- Experience to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and external community organisation
- Produce accurate, timely reports for internal and external stakeholders
- A clear commitment to promoting EDI principles in all aspects of service delivery and team management
