December 2009: New email advice service for Carers launched. Click on this link.

October 2009: Funding for Financial Capability project renewed for local schools in the south of the borough; and extended to cover local schools in the east of the borough.

 September/October 2009: New Children's Centre advice outreaches commence at Coppetts Wood; Kennedy Leigh; Moss Hall nursery and Edgware Library.

June 2009Advice-athon to be held at Hendon CAB - 25/26 June

May 2009: A new system of service delivery is being introduced at our Hendon bureau to help improve access to our service

April 2009: Following a restructure, the Money Advice Project (MAP) is launched to replace the Money Advice Unit. The new service will provide better access, will include advice on welfare benefits, and will be more Barnet focused.

March 2009: Barnet CAB scores 82% in its Quality of Advice Audit and achieves an outright pass at its organisational audit. These results place it in the top 10% of bureaux in the country.

February 2009: 80 people attend Barnet CAB’s AGM at the Greek Cypriot Centre, Britannia Road. Guest Speakers include Liz Barclay of Radio 4 fame and Councillor John Marshall, the Worshipful Mayor of Barnet.

February 2009: Barnet CAB wins funding from national Citizens Advice from the Additional Hours of Advice project. This will enable BCAB to extend its services to the public.

February 2009: Barnet CAB Annual report 2007-08 published

November 2008: A new system of service delivery is introduced at our New Barnet bureau to improve access to our service.

October 2008: New CAB outreaches open at Barnet House and Burnt Oak library

October 2008: New CAB Financial Capability project starts in local schools in the south of the borough

September 2008: Barnet CAB win half a million pounds from the Big Lottery Fund to set up a new helpline through which callers will be able to gain access to a whole range of Barnet based advice services. The helpline will be operational by mid 2009.

August 2008: New Housing Advice Service at Hendon CAB

Shelter in conjunction with Barnet CAB are offering specialist housing advice appointments to Barnet residents who are over 50. Housing advice includes advice on homelessness, re-housing and allocations, private sector renting, problems with landlords, rent arrears etc

The sessions run every Thursday afternoon from 1.30pm at Hendon CAB.
